5...4...3...2...1... ZERO. about michael picton  Michael Picton has composed music for symphonic orchestra, spare motorcycle parts, bare bits and bytes, and everything in between. He combines an academic background in classical composition and orchestration with a deep electronic studio technique and an omnivorous appetite for musical styles. Whatever the sonic elements, his music always has the same goal: an emotional clarity that exposes the heart of the project. The Grand Prize winner of the 2004 Turner Classic Movies Young Film Composers competition, Michael composed a stunning score to the 1926 Greta Garbo silent epic, "The Temptress". He has been featured on TCM in their documentary "Settling the Score" and on CBS News in their Sunday Morning piece "The Sound of Movies". In association with NYC commercial music house Expansion Team, Michael has composed spots for network and commercial clients including Comedy Central, VH1, The Outdoor Life Network, FX Network, and Verizon. Michael involvement in large-scale theatrical productions includes positions as music director of the italian megamusical Francesco, keyboardist with Cirque du Soleil's Quidam, composer and music producer for Harley-Davidson's Open Road Tour and 100th Anniversary Concert, and orchestrator of Le Rêve at Wynn Las Vegas. Michael studied music at McGill University, Montreal, where he earned a Masters Degree in Compostition and a Licentiate in Piano Performance. While a student, his piece "Bagatelles" was awarded the SOCAN Hugh LeCaine prize for electronic music. Michael resides in Los Angeles.
